Lafarge Cement has emerged the most Innovative Cement Company in Africa for the year 2022 at the 16th Africa’s largest housing and construction expo; Africa International Housing Show (AIHS).

The award, according to a statement by Mr. Festus Adebayo, AIHS Coordinator, on Friday in Abuja, was for the company’s leadership position in driving quality cement products across the continent.

The company’s delegation, led by its Commercial Director, Gbenga Onimowo, attended the 16th AIHS event in grand style, and was present throughout the four days of the housing event.

The Director General of the African Development Bank in Nigeria, Mr. Lamin Barrow commended Lafarge for its great works in providing innovative solutions capable of fixing the nation’s housing gap.

Barrow also lauded Lafarge for the initiative of building and promoting African brands.

Reacting, Onimowo expressed appreciation to the organisers and urged them not to relent in their efforts to ensure that African brands compete favorably with foreign ones.

He stated that the company had advanced as a global brand by exporting its products to numerous places around the world.

“Lafarge remains at the vanguard of African enterprise, and our brand has touched the lives of many since it started operation on the 24th February 1959, by delivering sustainable housing options that fulfill their needs and strengthening the continent of Africa,” he said.

Lafarge Africa Plc., a foremost sub-Saharan Africa building materials company, headquartered in Lagos and quoted on the Nigerian Stock Exchange currently has a global network presence in more than 50 countries across all continents, with over 180 cement plants, 80 waste pre-treatment facilities/dedicated co-processing installations, 2,000 workers worldwide, and more than 10,000,000 customers.

Among the prominent structures Lafarge has built are the National Assembly Complex and Federal Secretariat in Abuja, the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos, Cocoa House in Ibadan, Tinapa Business and Leisure Resort in Calabar, and the University of Nigeria Nsukka.
