Ebonyi state Governor, Engr. Dave Umahi, has suspended the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Clement Nweke, over alleged insubordination and abuse of office.

The commissioner’s suspension was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Kenneth Igwe, on Wednesday August 11, in Abakaliki, the state capital.

According to the statement, Nweke is directed to hand over all government property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior officer in the ministry and vacate the office with immediate effect.

The statement further urged the suspended commissioner to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

“The state Governor, David Umahi, has approved the indefinite suspension of Clement Nweke, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development with immediate effect.

“Consequently, Mr Nweke is directed to hand over all governmental property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary or the most senior officer in the ministry before the close of work on Wednesday, August 11,” it said.
