The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, FCT Council, has said it will partner Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and Federal Housing Authority on provision of loans for FCT workers to build and own their houses.

The chairman TUC council chairman, Comrade Amodu Olayinka, disclosed this during its 6th Triennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja, on Thursday.

Comrade Olayinka said the concept was to enable workers build standard houses of their own using local material.  He also stated that the union has rendered its request for land allocation with the FCT which when granted will be allocated to affiliate members.

While addressing newsmen, Comrade Olayinka said, “We want the permanent secretary to serve as a source of motivation to other permanent secretaries and directors. We don’t have an office to call our own; we want the FCT to prevail on that,” he said.

The Permanent Secretary, Federal Capital territory, Christian Ohaa, in his speech said a harmonious labour/government relationship will always benefit both parties, adding that they have been able to achieve that in the FCT and the system has been for the better for them.
