President Bola Tinubu has formally inducted the board and management team of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), following their initial appointment on April 2, 2025.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Thursday afternoon at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja. Ahmadu Kida, who serves as the board’s Non-Executive Chairman, and Bashir Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer, took their oaths of office alongside the rest of the 11-member board.
Immediately after the event, President Tinubu headed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Summit held at the State House Banquet Hall.
The newly constituted board comprises representatives from across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones, reflecting a broad national presence. From the North West are Adedapo Segun and Bello Rabiu; the North East is represented by Yusuf Usman; while Babs Omotowa, the former Managing Director of Nigeria LNG, represents the North Central region.
Other board members include Austin Avuru from the South-South zone, David Ige from the South-West, and Henry Obih from the South-East.
Government ministries are also directly involved in the board’s oversight, with Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Finance, and Aminu Ahmed, representing the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, both serving as board members.
Among the top officials present at the swearing-in were the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris; and Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri.
