President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to Chief (Mrs.) Leila Fowler, the renowned lawyer, educationist, and founder of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos, who passed away at the age of 92.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, the President described Fowler’s passing as a major loss not only to her family but also to Nigeria’s education sector, where she made an enduring impact as a pioneer.
Fowler, who held the title of Yeye Mofin of Lagos, was also the mother of Babatunde Fowler, former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service.
Tinubu commended her for laying “the foundation for academic excellence” through the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, a school he said had produced generations of empowered young women.
“Her legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she transformed. The nation is grateful for her remarkable impact. She will be fondly remembered,” the President said.
He extended condolences to the Fowler family, the management and students of the college, and the people of Lagos State, while praying for the repose of her soul and comfort for those she left behind.
