President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on the occasion of his 60th birthday, praising the governor’s efforts in infrastructure and urban development across Nigeria’s commercial hub.
In a message released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President commended Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering dedication to the progressive transformation of Lagos State, describing him as “a public servant who has remained true to the founding vision for Lagos.”
Highlighting the governor’s accomplishments, Tinubu noted key milestones under Sanwo-Olu’s leadership, including the delivery of the Blue and Red rail lines, as well as the commencement of work on the Purple Line, which aims to improve mobility along the rapidly growing Lekki corridor.
Looking ahead, Tinubu urged the governor to maintain the momentum by focusing on impactful and overdue projects such as the Fourth Mainland Bridge and the Freedom Way-VGC Road, both seen as critical to easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in Lagos’ expanding metropolis.
“I encourage you to stay on this commendable path by prioritising legacy projects that will bring lasting benefits to the people of Lagos,” the President said in his statement.
He also offered personal birthday wishes to the governor, expressing hope for continued health and success in service to Lagosians and the nation at large.
The tribute also reflected on Sanwo-Olu’s early political journey, which began under Tinubu’s tutelage during his tenure as Lagos State Governor. Sanwo-Olu has since served in several key administrative roles, including as Commissioner in multiple ministries and as Managing Director of the Lagos State Property Development Corporation, before becoming governor.
Governor Sanwo-Olu’s 60th milestone marks not only a personal celebration but a moment of reflection on a public career closely intertwined with Lagos’ modern growth story.
