The agents at Ovation Travel Group have put together a list of the top leisure destinations to visit in 2020 for Forbes. The list is meant to help travelers find their perfect destination and was compiled based on sales.

Cape Town, South AfricaKigali, RwandaMarrakech, Morocco

Featured on the list are three African countries, all of which made it in the Top 10.

Paul Metselaar, CEO of Ovation Travel Group says international travel is a big trend for 2020. He goes on to share that Ovation Travel Group has experienced “elevated demand for international travel”.

According to the U.S. Commerce Department’s National Travel and Tourism Office, international travel rose 6% in 2018.

If Africa is on your travel bucket list for 2020, here are the top African countries to visit according to Ovation Travel Group:

Cape Town, South Africa

Coming in 3rd place and the highest-ranking African destination on the list is Cape Town, South Africa.

Travel advisor and concierge Limor Decor shares why Cape Town is on the list: “The warm mild climate makes Cape Town a fantastic destination. The views of the ocean and the fantastic botanical garden make this cosmopolitan city a most worthwhile place to visit all year long.”

For breathtaking views, visit Table Mountain where you can overlook the city as well as the Atlantic Ocean.

Wine connoisseurs can head to Stellenbosch, a nearby town known for its fantastic Pinotage wine.

If you’re a nature lover, head to the Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden.

Whether your interests are luxury travel or adventure, Cape Town has activities to please.

Kigali, Rwanda

Kigali landed the 5th spot on the list and is known as the “cleanest city in Africa.”

This city is safe for solo travelers and perfect for those interested in art, culture, fashion, and coffee.

Judy Stein, president of The Stein Collective says Kigali is a top destination because “Rwanda in general and Kigali as the capital gateway city have really come into their own since the genocide generations ago. Travelers who are adventurous, curious, eco-conscious travelers and conservationists are more likely to enjoy a visit to Kigali.”

Marrakech, Morocco

Marrakech came in 6th on the list of 20 places to visit in 2020 and with good reason. This gorgeous city is home to the Medina, dating back to the Berber Empire and filled with souks, pottery, jewelry, and more.

Susan Ganis, an Ovation Travel Group travel advisor says Marrakech is on the list because “It has one-of-a-kind experiences such as a candlelit dinner in the middle of the desert replete with camel rides, belly dancers and fire eaters. Travelers who are active and adventurous and interested in different cultural experiences are encouraged to pay a visit.”

Fashion lovers can head to Yves Saint Laurent’s home and visit the Majorelle Gardens.

You can also visit many mosques, palaces, and gardens to learn about the history and culture of the city.
