Stakeholders from across government and civil society gathered in Abuja on Monday to begin consultations on Nigeria’s 4th Open Government Partnership (OGP) National Action Plan.
The meeting brought together representatives from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as key civil society organisations (CSOs), signalling renewed commitment to transparency, accountability, and improved public service delivery.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to the Renewed Hope agenda, assuring Nigerians of President Bola Tinubu’s focus on delivering meaningful reforms aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.
OGP National Coordinator, Gloria Ahmed, noted that the forthcoming action plan will be closely aligned with the administration’s Presidential Delivery Priorities, reinforcing the national drive for open and inclusive governance.
Nma-Nnaobi Ayodele, co-chair of the OGP non-state actors, emphasized the importance of capturing the voice of the people in the development of the action plan. According to her, the plan must address the practical needs of citizens and reflect their aspirations.
Presidential adviser Hadiza Bala Usman stressed that all relevant MDAs would collaborate with civil society groups to fully implement the commitments under the OGP framework.
Representing the Partnership for Agile Governance and Climate Engagement (PACE), National Team Leader Ifeanyi Peters Ugwuoke called for proactive measures from all tiers of government to uplift the lives of vulnerable and underserved populations.
Uchenna Arisukwu, Civil Society Adviser to the OGP, praised the dedication shown by all parties involved and encouraged sustained momentum to achieve the set goals.
The 4th National Action Plan is expected to lay out concrete steps for enhancing transparency, civic participation, and public sector responsiveness in Nigeria.
