Rivers State Sole Administrator, Vice Adm. Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), has called on traditional rulers of the state across the state to actively take deliberate steps towards protecting government facilities within their communities.
The sole administrator made this appeal during the combined 121st and 122nd quarterly meeting of the State Council of Traditional Rulers in Port Harcourt on Friday.
Ibas noted that the meeting shared light on the need for unity and collaboration between the government and traditional institutions to address and overcome state challenges.
He also emphasised the essential role which traditional rulers play in fostering peacebuilding and called for joint efforts to address community issues.
The retired admiral, stressed the vital need to secure government facilities from theft and vandalism, the retired admiral also warned against protecting rulers involved in unrest.
Ibas went further to assure the traditional rulers of his commitment to partnering with them to improve the state’s prosperity and well-being.
The Chairman of the Rivers Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Chike Worlu-Wodo, praised Ibas for promoting peace and development in the state.

The Paramount Ruler of the Apara Kingdom, underlined the importance of Ibas’s leadership in bridging divides and restoring a sense of pride and security among Rivers residents.
He also called upon his fellow traditional rulers to eschew partisan politics and actively promote healthy dialogue, which he believes is essential for achieving lasting peace in their communities.
