The Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN) has called for stronger partnerships among government, developers, financial institutions and investors to accelerate sustainable housing delivery in Nigeria.
REDAN President, Oba Akintoye Adeoye, made the call at the ongoing 5th Amadeo Business Summit 2026 in Enugu.
His position was contained in a statement signed by the association’s Executive Secretary and Business Development Specialist, John Saka, and issued in Abuja on Thursday.
The summit, themed “Sustaining Growth and Soaring,” is focused on helping businesses and institutions develop scalable systems capable of supporting long-term growth and relevance.
REDAN Seeks Affordable, Long-Term Housing Finance
Adeoye said Nigeria’s housing challenge goes beyond increasing the number of homes being built, stressing the need for an enabling environment where developers can access affordable and long-term financing.
He also called for conditions that would give investors greater confidence, enable homebuyers to access sustainable mortgage solutions and support a predictable and transparent regulatory environment.
“The challenge before us is not only to increase housing supply, but also to create an enabling environment where developers can access affordable and long-term finance,” he said.
Adeoye identified stronger public-private partnerships, innovative financing mechanisms, improved land administration, sound regulation and professional standards as critical to sustainable housing delivery.
REDAN Lists Key Housing Sector Challenges
The REDAN president urged stakeholders to work together to address challenges affecting affordable housing finance, access to serviced land, infrastructure deficits, regulatory processes, consumer protection and reliable housing data.
He also highlighted the South-East as a region with significant potential for real estate investment, urban development and economic expansion if supported by appropriate policies and strategic investments.
“With the right policy environment, strategic investment, improved infrastructure, innovative financing mechanisms and stronger public-private partnerships, the region can unlock significant opportunities for housing delivery, job creation and economic prosperity,” he said.
Real Estate Sector Can Drive Economic Growth
Adeoye described the real estate sector as an important contributor to Nigeria’s economic development.
He said the industry could create jobs, attract investment, support other businesses and build wealth for communities when its potential is properly harnessed.
He congratulated the organisers of the summit and expressed hope that discussions at the event would contribute to improvements in Nigeria’s housing sector and broader economic growth.
