Ogun State Government yesterday disclosed that it has spent N7.389 billion on road construction and rehabilitation across the three senatorial districts between January and June this year.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Works and Infrastructure, Akeem Adesina, disclosed this during the ongoing 2021 budget performance assessment before members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Infrastructure, chaired by Abayomi Fasuwa in Abeokuta.

The General Manager, State Public Works Agency (OGPWA), Gbenga Akintola, while presenting the budget performance report of his agency, stated that N110.46m has been expended on the maintenance of roads and bridges in the state within the period under review.

Akintola noted that the maintenance became imperative to reduce accident rate, thereby improving safe motoring for all categories of road users.

The lawmakers tasked the agencies to give priority to arterial roads within communities and other internal roads.
