The Ogun State House of Assembly has issued a stern warning to 17 individuals involved in the unauthorized sale and occupation of land belonging to the State Housing Corporation.
During its plenary sitting on June 24, the Assembly’s Committee on Lands and Housing, chaired by Hon. Damilola Soneye, re‑invited two distinct groups linked to the illegal transactions and encroachments.
The first group—comprising eight individuals, including Emmanuel Osho, Folabi Osho, Moshood Lawal Keji, Owodunni Sodipo, Adeyiga Jeje Lambo, Abiodun Soneye, Tikare, and Hammed Sodipe faces allegations tied to illicit transfers of property in Ibido Community, Sagamu Estate. These persons have reportedly ignored two previous invitations to provide explanations.
The Assembly has directed them to appear no later than 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 26, with the express warning that non‑compliance will result in arrest warrants issued under section 129 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
The second group, consisting of nine individuals among them Sikiru Shittu Onakoya, Ismail Onakoya, Azeez Shittu Onakoya, Tunde Onakoya, Alhaji Olukorede Baoku, Adeleke Yekeen Abu, Alhaji Ikililu Alawiye, Chief Akeem Abajo and Adegunwa Kunle Oluwatosin—is accused of encroaching on State Housing Corporation land at Itanrin Estate, Ijebu‑Ode.
They have been summoned to appear before the committee at 1:00pm on the same date, and similarly face arrest warrants if they fail to comply.
Highlighting the Assembly’s preparedness to take legal action, Hon. Soneye emphasised that the legislature will invoke its constitutional powers to compel attendance. The development underscores Ogun State’s commitment to enforcing land ownership regulations and curbing unauthorized dispossession of public assets .
