The Ogun State House of Assembly has commended the Abeokuta North Local Government for its proactive efforts in addressing housing challenges through the execution of low and medium-cost housing projects.

During an oversight visit to the council secretariat on Monday, May 26, 2025, Mr. Jemili Akingbade, Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, lauded the council’s leadership for aligning with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s developmental agenda. He noted that the council’s adherence to due process in executing grassroots development programs is a testament to good governance.

Akingbade emphasized the importance of sustaining focus on people-oriented projects and ensuring compliance with statutory guidelines. He stated, “The projects will significantly improve the lives of residents and serve as a hallmark of responsive governance.”

In response, Council Chairman Dr. Lanre Oyegbola-Sodipo reaffirmed his commitment to the administration’s agenda. He expressed determination to replicate developmental strides across the four communities and 16 wards of the local government, aiming to enhance staff welfare and boost productivity.

This initiative is part of the broader Abeokuta New Town Development Project, which seeks to expand urban infrastructure and provide affordable housing solutions to residents.
