Ogun State Government has began demolition of some illegal shanties along Lagos Ibadan express way to rid environmental hazzards, and keep the state clean for unwanted diseases

Senior special assistant to the governor on environment, Farooq Akintunde, led the powerful delegation aided by security agencies to carry out the operation

Beginning from Kara back to the Interchange to Abeokuta it is now a sin for anyone to put up shanties by the road side as the setbacks in all these areas are compulsory

It is a public holiday but no public holiday for the ministry of environment as they see this day as a better day to carry out the enforcement

They never believed this will happen on a day like this as they were cut unaware even with governments several notices meaning they never took it serious

For those who are smart, they started evacuation process while those were adamant or those who have gone on holiday sure will meet their shanties displaced

While the evacuation process was on fight ensued between scavengers and the shanti owners

Unfortunately we were made to understand these places have been paid for, to who? is a question begging for an answer

This exercise will be carried out across the state, there will be no more room for display of goods and services on walkways, drainages, reserved places as necessary setbacks must be adhered to at all points where government have placed it.
