The Nigeria Institute of Town Planners (NITP) is set to honour the governor of Ogun State, Dr Adedapo Oluseun Abiodun as a Honourary Fellow of the Institute.
According to a letter signed by the National President of NITP, TPl. Olutoyin Ayinde, FNITP, the honour is a way to appreciate the contributions of Dr Abiodun to the built environment since he was elected and assumed office as the Governor of Ogun State.
He added that the efforts and contributions of Governor Abiodun to the physical planning and development of towns, cities and rural communities in Ogun State drew the attention of Town Planners in Nigeria.
The NITP President noted that the honour on Gov Abiodun is in line with the constitution of the institute which states, “… Honorary Fellowship shall be conferred on any suitable person … who has taken special interest in town planning, and who by reason of his position, experience or his service to town planning has contributed a great deal in promoting the aim and objectives of the Institute …”
TPL Ayinde lauded the governor’s efforts and giant strides in preparing plans and setting up institutions to ensure their implementation as well as building infrastructure to improve the livability of urban and rural settlements in Ogun State.

He also praised the passion and energy with which the governor has driven the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people of the State, describing it as “unparalleled,” adding that “This indeed has become a model to inspire other leaders in the country.”
Governor Abiodun will be the only Awardee of Honourary Fellowship of NITP in 2022 and the first in ten years.
He is expected to be conferred the Honourary Fellow on Saturday, 5th November 2022 at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
