The newly appointed Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (EVC/CEO) of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, has vowed to use science, technology, and innovation (STI) to boost the Nigerian economy.

Halilu made the vow in Abuja on Monday shortly after he assumed office as the EVC/CEO of NASENI. He said he would leverage technology transfer and domestic technology development to achieve his goal.

Halilu said NASENI would play a critical role in supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic agenda, which is anchored on areas such as food security, ending poverty, economic growth and job creation, creating access to capital through consumer credit, inclusivity, improving security, rule of law, and fighting corruption.

He said NASENI has the potential to leapfrog Nigeria into the 21st century by using STI to solve some of the country’s most pressing problems.

“We have the talent, the resources, and the potential to be a world leader in STI,” Halilu said. “I am confident that NASENI can play a leading role in boosting the Nigerian economy and helping the country to achieve its full potential.”

Halilu is a tech expert and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience. He has served on the boards of several successful companies and has held senior management positions in the private sector.

He is committed to making NASENI a world-class institution and helping Nigeria to become a leading force in STI.
