The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has received a special operations team deployed from the Lagos State Government Special Operations Team in charge of landed property as part of measures to supplement enforcement activities.

Speaking after receiving the team’s commander at the LASBCA general manager’s office, Gbolahan Oki, said the task force will significantly increase the activities of the agency’s enforcement unit.

Oki asserted that LASBCA was now capable of “expanding its coverage areas to ensure that non-conforming, defective and distressed structures can promptly be detected and pulled down to avert sudden collapse that might result in loss of lives and property.”

He emphasized the agency’s dedication to prioritizing Lagosians’ safety and wellbeing by keeping an eye on all current and future building construction, as he charged the special operations team to work diligently and uphold professionalism at all times .

Toyin Omotosho, the head of the special operations team, added that his team members were focused and dedicated while at all times upholding collaboration, honesty, and best practices in the discharge of their duties.

The advice in the White Paper provided to the State Government regarding the collapsed building at 44, Gerard Road, Ikoyi, was the same as when the Special Team was deployed to LASBCA.
