Modular development is part of 10,000-home scheme in Northstowe, Cambridgeshire

Plans for what is set to be the UK’s largest offsite village have been granted by South Cambridgeshire district council.

Inholm is the 406-home second phase of the new town of Northstowe, which will eventually feature 10,000 homes. It is claimed to be the biggest development using volumetric methods of building in the UK.

The homes will be built by House, a venture set up last year between UK developer Urban Splash, government agency Homes England and Japan’s largest housebuilder Sekisui House.

The trio said the majority of the properties across the development, designed by Proctor & Matthews and Shedkm, would be made at House’s factory in Alfreton in the east Midlands.

The homes can be configured to suit buyers’ specification before being delivered onsite.

Inholm will feature a variety of properties, later living homes and a range of mixed-use buildings across a masterplan designed by Proctor & Matthews.

The customisable homes will officially launch in late spring or early summer 2020.

Last September Urban Splash announced it would be working with the council on the Northstowe scheme to deliver 81 homes for affordable rent.
