Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has expressed worry over the rate at which lands meant for public institutions are being encroached upon, saying his administration will ensure the days of encroachment into Government lands are over.
The Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, stated this over the weekend at Egbe, headquarters of Yagba West Local Government Council of the state.
The Commissioner who frowned at the encroachment into the land of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation in the town, said the government will use available legal means to retrieve the land.
“This is not acceptable and the Governor has directed that we retrieve all our lands from intruders. The trend of building private structures or businesses on government properties will be met with stern measures.
“We have seen what is happening here and we have directed the Station Manager to put a stop to it immediately.
“As citizens, we must always display a high degree of patriotism and responsibility. Building private structures on government lands is unacceptable”.
The Governor assured the Management and Staff of the Broadcasting Corporation of Government’s readiness to reposition the Corporation, saying all the Corporation stations will soon where a new look.
