In a bid to safeguard public health and the environment, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has shut down a property at 229 Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, for allegedly channeling untreated sewage into public drains.
The enforcement, carried out on August 13, 2025, came after evidence showed that the property’s waste disposal practices were contaminating the environment and posing serious health hazards.
Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed the action via his verified X account, calling the incident a “clear violation of environmental safety standards.”
Wahab stressed that such pollution not only damages ecosystems but also exposes communities to dangerous diseases. He called on Lagos residents to manage wastewater responsibly and maintain hygiene as part of a collective effort toward a cleaner state.
He warned that the government would continue to apply strict sanctions, including legal action, against offenders to ensure full compliance with sanitation laws.
