Mr. Solomon Adebayo, Commissioner for Pensions in Kogi State, has been shot dead while the whereabouts of Mr. Pius Kolawole, Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area of the State, have been unknown.

Both men were attacked around Erukutu, a border town between Kwara and Kogi States on Saturday evening.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Williams Aya, who confirmed the incident, said  the deceased pension commissioner was hit by the assailant’s bullet.

The Police image maker could not confirm whether the assailants were armed robbers, kidnappers or bandits but assured that the command would get to the root of the matter.

He said that the body of the deceased pension commissioner has been deposited in a morgue, adding that the whereabouts of the Yagba West Local Government chairman still remained unknown.

According to the Police image maker, “The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Ede Ayuba, has deployed personnel to the area to search for and rescue the chairman from his abductors. The command is not resting on its oars to secure his release,” he said.
