Journalists under the aegis of Kano Media Advocacy Group, KaMAG has decried the poor state of conveniences in public schools, urging the state government to hurriedly address the menace.
KAMAG in a statement issued at the end of a one day media engagement organized by Partnership To Engage, Reform and Learn, PERL held at AHIP conference hall on Thursday called on the state government to heighten its investment in the renovation of public schools.
The statement signed by the chairperson, KaMAG, Bilkisu Ado Zango said “Kano State needs to provide additional funds for the second batch of the renovation of more primary schools and the need to construct public conveniences in the schools during the renovations
“ research has shown that the state government has gone a long way in retaining enrollment in schools while there is need to ensure that funds for managing post primary schools are released timely at the beginning of each term rather than at the middle. “
“the Passage of the Free and Compulsory Basic and Post Basic Education Law in the state is a clear indication that the State Government is determined to ensure education for all and it has created an opportunity were the poorest of poor will be able to benefit from the wonderful initiative.
KaMAG also charged governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje to as a matter of urgency assent to the Amended Persons with Disability Prohibition Laws 2018, stressing that the appendage of assent to the law by the state governor would invoke on the People with disabilities the required sense of belonging.

“a landmark achievement was recorded by Governor Ganduje’s administration with the recent enrolment of 4,734 People with Disabilities into the Kano State vulnerable health care scheme of the Kano State Contributory Health Care Management Agency.
