There was tension in Tse-Agbulu, Kunav, Sengev council ward of Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State, when two brothers who were quarrelling suddenly slumped and died.

Daily Trust gathered that the incident, which happened a fortnight ago, left residents of the rural community in shock.

Witnesses gave the names of the deceased as, Iorhemba Adóón and Jima Adóón, who are said to be the eldest sons of Adóón Agbulu, who is also late.

Trouble started between the siblings when Jima hired a tractor to plough his rice farm near river Benue but was confronted by his brother, who dispersed the workers on the grounds that the land was their father’s and as the eldest, he ought to have inherited it.

But his action angered, Jima, who allegedly claimed to have stood by their late father who experienced difficulties before he died.

The brothers were said to have exchanged blows and resorted to charms as they made incantation in the full glare of the villagers.

It was learnt that during the process, the elder brother slumped and in a matter of seconds, the younger one also slumped.

Our correspondent gathered that the spectators rushed both men to a hospital in their Agagbe home town but doctors pronounced them dead.

Contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), of Benue Command, DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, adding that the corpses have been deposited at the morgue for autopsy.
