The leading housing advocacy group in Nigeria, Housing Development Advocacy Network has congratulated Senate President, Dr Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan on his 61st birthday.
The Network joins the National Assembly, his constituents and well-wishers of the Senate President in wishing him a happy birthday.
The Network used the opportunity of the birthday celebration to task the Senate President to use his office to expedite action on all outstanding housing bills currently before the National Assembly which they believe will go a long way in reducing the over 20 million housing deficits in the country and make the issue of affordable homes for Nigerians a reality.
Among the bills listed in the congratulatory message include the Foreclosure Bill which will legally resolve default issues in the housing sector; Review of Land Use Act of 1978; Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Bill 2018; Review of Federal Government Housing Loans Board Bill (FGHLB); Review of the National Housing Fund (NHF) Scheme Act 1992; Review of Mortgage Banks Act 1989 (subsumed in BOFIA); Review of Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria (FMBN) Act 1993;
Others are Review of the Insurance Act 2002; Review of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA) Act 1990; Policy Creating the National Council on Housing for Sector Regulation; and Securitization Bill and other affordable housing policies.
