The 2025 fiscal budget for Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT), totaling N1.738 trillion, has successfully passed its second reading in the House of Representatives.
During Tuesday’s plenary session, the budget proposal was introduced by the House Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere and supported by Minority Leader Rep. Kingsley Chinda. The motion was subsequently adopted following a voice vote led by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen.
This development follows President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s earlier submission of the budget to the National Assembly, delivered via formal correspondence read aloud by the Speaker on May 13.
With the second reading now concluded, the proposed budget has been assigned to relevant legislative committees including the Federal Capital Territory Committee and the Committee on FCT Area Councils and Ancillary Matters for detailed examination and recommendations.
