The fire that gutted a two-story building in Lagos State‘s Idumagbo district on Monday affected two warehouses.

In an interview with The Punch correspondent, Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency, said the fire was extinguished by a joint effort of state and federal fire services.

He confirmed that no one was killed or injured in the incident.

Farinloye said, “The state and federal fire services are working on it. The fire has been contained and prevented from spreading to other buildings. It was put out about an hour ago. It was just one store that was affected. Nobody was trapped, injured or affected in any way.”

On the cause of the fire, Farinloye said it would be ascertained after the conclusion of the operation.

Asked if goods were lost, he said, “Definitely. It was a warehouse that was involved.”

However, the Head of Public Education, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Amodu Shakiru, said two warehouses were affected.

He said, “There was no casualty and the fire had been put out. It involved a two-storey building. The fire started on the second floor of the two-storey building and spread to the first floor but we were able to contain it before it spread further.”
