The houses are to be sold to low and medium-income earners through mortgage and Rent-to-Own subscription windows.

The Ministry launched a portal for the acquisition of the 5,000 housing units under the National Housing Programme (NHP).

The prices of the houses were put at N7,222,404, N9,268,752, N13,241,074 and N16,491,155.8 across the country including the Federal Capital Territory.

The homes which would cost up to 20 years salary of a N30,000 minimum wage earner is part of FG’s development agenda for addressing housing needs for low-income earners.

Information seen on the portal revealed that 10,543 applicants have subscribed for the housing units.

Part of the application process is that a non-refundable application fee of N10,000 will be paid through a designated Remita account.

A pin would be generated for the applicant to access the portal to complete the application process.

Based on the information released that “over 10,000 applications have been received through the portal,” the number will translate to N105.43m if the applicants paid the N10,000 requirement.

A statement on the portal reveals that the “breakdown of the status update as recorded on the web-portal platforms as at Thursday, shows that, out of the total number of 10,543 applicants, 10,206 applications are pending, 238 applications have been successfully submitted and 115 applications were approved.”
