**Says Portal Will Accurately Profile Nigerians Living Outside The Country

**As Portal Already Covers Twenty Countries

ABUJA – The federal government on Tuesday in Abuja, launched the Nigerians in Diaspora Data Mapping Portal.

The portal is aimed at getting the accurate data and creating a reliable profile of all Nigerians in Diaspora.

It will also facilitate the participation of Nigerians in Diaspora to the development of Nigeria through the utilization of both human capital and material resources.

Launching the platform, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Zubairu, explained that “the essence of developing the data base for Nigerians in Diaspora was for active pursuance of the mandate of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, (NiDCOM) as enshrined in the 2017 NiDCOM Establishment Act.”

He appealed to Nigerians in Diaspora to register and be counted as bonafide members of the Nigerian community in Diaspora.

Earlier, the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa said “the Portal was aimed at getting the accurate data and creating a reliable profile of all Nigerians in Diaspora.”

She commended the Ministry’s support of the activities of the Commission.

Data of Nigerians from twenty countries across the world were targeted at the beginning of the exercise.
