The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Ayede in Oyo State, has made a formal appeal to both the Federal Government and Governor Seyi Makinde for urgent intervention on dilapidated access roads that have hindered the institution’s full relocation to its permanent campus.
Despite the completion of major infrastructure at the school’s permanent location in Ayede, Ogo-Oluwa Local Government Area, movement remains difficult due to the poor state of roads leading to the site, particularly from the Idi Araba, Oolo, and Odo-Oba routes.
Council Chairman, Mr. Yakubu Dati, raised the concern during a recent inspection tour of the Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (CSAED), located at Onipaanu in Surulere Local Government Area. He stressed that the poor road conditions have become a significant barrier to the institution’s operational expansion.
“We’ve seen firsthand the excellent facilities already in place at the permanent site,” Dati noted. “However, without functional roads, both staff and students cannot make full use of them. That’s why we are urging federal and state authorities to prioritize road development in this area.”
Dati also stated that the council would leverage its own influence and reach out to key stakeholders to fast-track support for the road projects needed to unlock access to the new site.
The call comes amid broader concerns about infrastructure challenges in Nigeria’s tertiary institutions and reflects the council’s ongoing commitment to ensuring a conducive learning and working environment for the Polytechnic’s community.
