…..Vows to sustain operations

The Federal Capital Territory Administration FCTA, at the weekend, stormed the fence of Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department CID, in Area 10, and demolished some illegal structures, including drinking joints.

The Chairman, FCT Task Force on Sanitation, Comrade Ikharo Attah,  who vowed to sustain the operations, disclosed that the demolition was occasion by the report from national security intelligence, that the makeshift structures around the fence of the force CID were growing too fast and becoming a security disturbance to the area.

Our correspondent reported that all the extensions made inside of the fence that served as restaurants were also demolished. Other structures demolished by the officials included containers being used by petty traders as shops and all the kiosks in a rail corridor temporary given as parking lot of Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC in area 10.

According to Attah, “Actually we had two operations today the first one we did, it was occasion by national security, we report from the highest intelligence that force CID that some very disturbing make shift structures are coming up around the fence of force CID in area 10, in Abuja. “The place is suppose to be a rail corridor but it was temporary given as parking lot of Abuja Municipal Area Council and some people took advantage and started building structure. We went there this morning to enhance the nation’s security .

We removed all the make shift structures just along the fence of force CID at Area 10 because anyone can do anything at such a sensitive and important National structure. “We left the AMAC marriage registry tents because they are undergoing renovation.

We left  it hoping that when they finish they will move there” Similarly, the task force also cleaned up the corridor part of the airport road, also evacuated more than 40 tippers of waste from the road side, and evacuated trailer loads of woods from persons who are trading on the side of the road corridor  Attah stressed that the security assessment claimed that 100 percent of the people trading on the corridor are not original settlers, adding that “We have told them to go inside the market that they must not trade at every entrance of organic settlement.

“This is organic settlement and here owned by original inhabitants, they have their markets here, inside those of us who have come to join them shouldn’t turn the entrance into market. “The option is that we have given them dump site at the back, where they can evacuate their waste but they keeping coming here.

We are going to meet with traditional rulers and leaders in this community to create awareness.

And no farming activities on the airport corridor. It must be green . “One thing about people is that they don’t believe in government, like in Area 10 and here, we gave them notices to quit but they are waiting for us to come thinking government is not serious about coming to recover the corridor” he said. “We went to airport road with combined team of all security agencies to do clean up at airport road , what we saw was unspeakable, We could see that part of the road corridor was gradually becoming a dump site  and we clean up the place to ensure people entering the city have a beautiful impression about our city and our nation.

He continued, “like we were here at car wash last week and came again this weekend we will still come here next week.

We will continue to keep coming to this alignment and to keep doing it . We have appealed to them to go to the back but they refused it we will still keep on doing it. “We will still keep on going to other areas like we visited area 10 and this week we are going to Gwarinpa, Nyanya, Dutse Alhaji, Zuba .

Why we come here is because of combined security agencies that are giving us cover here and they give us greater strength . We cannot afford to lose this city” he said.
