The FCT ministerial task force on city sanitation yesterday destroyed and set ablaze some shanties at mechanic village in Jabi, Abuja.
City News reports that the team, which comprises of police, civil defence corps and officials of the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) destroyed some kiosks and makeshift ‘batchers’.
The task force seized some items such as grinding machines, vulcanizer pump machines, coolers that contained some assorted drinks.
Hawkers around the area ran for safety with their goods as they saw the task force team, while some who hawk food stuffs within the mechanic village also removed their food items into nearby shops.
It was also observed that the task force team set ablaze some wooden desks and benches within the mechanic village.
The chairman of the task force team, Ikaro Attah, could not be reached for comments, as efforts by our reporter to reach out to him were denied by security men attached to him.
