The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched an investigation following the discovery of a lifeless body inside a car at the National Assembly premises on Sunday.
Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, saying the body of an unidentified man, believed to be a labourer, was found around 9 a.m. inside a red Peugeot 406 with registration number BWR-577 BF at a construction site within the complex.
According to her, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the National Assembly Division led officers to the scene after receiving a distress call. The body was later evacuated to Asokoro General Hospital, where doctors certified the man dead, noting that it was already in an advanced state of decomposition.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, has directed detectives to carry out a discreet investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and to confirm the identity of the deceased.
