The Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board of Nigeria has inducted 133 new members into the profession.

The Chairman of ESVARBON, Nweke Umezuruike, at the 42nd induction ceremony, charged the newly registered state surveyors and valuers to observe professional ethics and standards in the interest of the country in the cause of their career.

He also urged the new members to uphold the ethics of the profession while discharging their duties, adding that the institution would not hesitate to sanction erring members.

The President, Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Rowland Abonta, asked the new members to shun undue external influences that would make them to compromise standards.

He added that the NIESV would continue to provide empowerment through training and skills acquisition by various faculties of the institution.

“I charge those of you being inducted today by the board to please imbibe and maintain our professional ethics and standards. You have been through the institution; note that you will be personally responsible for your action and inaction. Avoid undue external influences for any purposes,” Abonta said.

He explained that the profession offered unlimited opportunities considering the training they had gone through.

“I say again we have a godly and goodly heritage in this profession, which makes us the envy of other professions. Rest assured that we at the management and council will continue to take every legal step and action to protect our God-given area of competence for the present and future generations for estate surveyor and valuers,” he added.

The guest speaker, Oludare Bello, told the new members to be good ambassadors of the profession, adding that they should observe the provisions of the constitution of the profession, both written and unwritten.

He also advised them to be focused and not to give up as they would face challenges and fierce competition in the cause of their career.
