The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested Malam Ismail Umaru Dikko, the Director-General of the Kaduna State Urban Planning Development Agency (KASUPDA), on Monday.

The former Special Assistant to Nasir el-Rufai, the state governor, was in a meeting with staff when EFCC officials stormed the agency to effect the arrest, according to a Daily Trust report.

Witnesses said Dikko’s arrest was first challenged by members of KASUPDA’s staff, but he eventually submitted himself to the officials and police officers.

On Saturday, FIJ reported that Dikko’s agency violated court orders to demolish several buildings in Anguwan Yusi community, Hanwa District, Zaria.

It served a 24-hour notice to residents via a radio jingle, and showed up the day after to render many homeless.
