An Abuja-based real estate entrepreneur, Mrs. Godwin-Isaac Rebecca Omokamo also known as Bilkisu Ishaku Aliyu stood trial on Wednesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, facing serious allegations of involvement in a ₦500 million land fraud and money laundering scheme.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) brought separate charges against her, her husband Isaac Yusuf Ishaku, their company Homadil Realty Ltd, as well as fellow defendant Idakwogi Richard John and his firm, Rychardo Homes Ltd.

The first case, registered as FHC/ABJ/CR/77/2025, comprises five counts and details the alleged use of falsified documents including a forged Power of Attorney to unlawfully claim ownership of Plot 4022 in Guzape District. It is further alleged that Mrs. Omokamo used forged documents to secure building approval from the FCT Department of Development Control and subsequently sold the plot for ₦70 million under false pretenses.

The second case, FHC/ABJ/CR/76/2025, includes 17 counts and describes a broader scheme between 2023 and 2024 in which the defendants are accused of collecting over ₦500 million from multiple victims. Funds were purportedly laundered through corporate accounts following false claims of ownership for Plots 1861, 1862, and 1863 in Katampe District. EFCC investigator Samuel Chime told the court that these transactions violated Section 8(a) and Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud & Other Related Offences Act, 2006.

All defendants pleaded not guilty. Defence counsel led by SANs Christopher Oshomegie and M.A. Ebute successfully argued for bail, which Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted at ₦10 million per person, each with two sureties also of ₦10 million. The sureties must be federal civil servants at Grade Level 16 or above, submit three months of salary evidence, demonstrate property ownership equivalent to bail, and swear affidavits of means. The court also ordered the surrender of international passports and restricted travel without approval.

Pending compliance with bail requirements, Mrs. Omokamo and the third defendant remain in custody one at Suleja Correctional Centre, the other at Kuje Correctional Centre. The trials for both cases are set to resume on July 21 and 22, with EFCC preparing to call 13 witnesses.

Last month, a 79-year-old widow, Mrs. Colleen Mero Yesufu, publicly accused Omokamo of fraudulent property seizure in Guzape and Katampe claiming the disputed plots rightfully belonged to her and were unlawfully taken using forged land documents and political connections. Civil society groups, including INAHURAT and CHRICED, have also alleged that certain police officials may have shielded Omokamo prompting calls for deeper investigations.
