The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), has commenced electrification of Abudu and other communities in Orhionmwon and Uhunmwonde local government areas of the state.

The government also disclosed that it has installed 2.5MV/3311VA transformers in the communities to boost power supply.

The benefitting communities are,  Abudu Oza-Evbuobanosa Oghada, Itu, Ofien, Idudolor, Ugbeze, Evbuohen, Ago-Ogbeide, Uvbe, Isua Evbosawe, Igbogiri Ugomoson, Ugboayon, Ugoneki, among others.

EDSOGPADEC’s Chairman, Pastor Kennedy Osifo, disclosed this while inspecting the Installation of the transformers.

Osifo said the electrification project was aimed at addressing the perennial power problem in the areas and enhance infrastructural development.

He added that the state government was committed to the welfare of the people and  that more development would be extended to other areas in the state to enhance economic development and create job opportunities for youths.

The Commissioner representing Orhionmwon on the Board of EDSOGPADEC, Charles Aideyan, noted that  Abudu had benefitted immensely from the present administration in the state.

He said the Abudu Bridge which had hitherto remained a death trap had been reconstructed, noting that the development would continue to boost economic development of the areas, as well as increase productivity and job creation.
