Convid-19 pandemic: REDAN urges Nigerians, developers to play safe

With the rising cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the President of Real Estate Developers Association of Nigeria (REDAN), Dr. Aliyu Oroji Wamakko has urged Nigerians to observe all the safety measures to curtail the spread of the disease currently ravaging the world.

Aliyu, in a statement, issued yesterday in Abuja commended the efforts of the federal and state governments by shutting down schools, public and workplaces to reduce the spread of the virus.

He called on real estate developers and their workers across the country to maintain safety precautions on sites and in all building activities to curtail Coronal virus spread.

He, however, enjoined all government ministries and agencies saddled with the responsibilities of disease control to step up measures to effectively manage the rising numbers of people testing positive daily for Convid-19.

He also advised all those who have had contacts with those already tested positive for Convid-19 to go into self isolation and immediately contact the Nigerian Centre for Diseases Control for medical attention.

He said, “Government at all levels should strengthen emergency response mechanism to curtail the spread of Convid-19. People should wash their hands regularly with soap and should desist from putting fingers in their nostrils or wiping eyes or mouth with bare hands. We should maintain social distancing and avoid handshakes or hug as well as overcrowded places. If you have the symptoms you should go for quarantine.”

Aliyu noted that the federal and state governments should roll- out a comprehensive palliative economic measures to cushion the effect of the economic shut down caused by the Convid-19 pandemic, saying the real estate sector should not be left out as one of the major employers of labour in the country.

The REDAN President wishes the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, Bauchi state governor Bala Muhammed and other Nigerians already infected a quick recovery.
