Collapsed building in Jigawa claims three lives

Collapsed building in Jigawa claims three lives

Three persons have died after a mud building collapsed at Yakasawa Kwari Village in Ringim LGA area of Jigawa State.

Police Spokesman, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.

He said the incident happened Sunday at about 5:00 AM after a heavy downpour.

According to him ” A 48-year-old Garba Lawal of Yakasawa Kwari Village Ringim Local Government reported to the police that on Sunday at about 05: 30Am when he woke up to observe morning prayer, he noticed that one of the room in his house has collapsed with his three children sleeping in it.”

Adam explained that all the three children were trapped beneath the debris.

He said with the help of police operatives and local community, the debris where removed and the victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital.

Adam said the victims were eventually confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

He said the deceased are; 14-year-old Naima Garba, 12-year-old Umar Garba and 8-year-old Sale Garba all of Yakasawa Village.

The state Commissioner of Police CP. Aliyu Sale Tafida, however, warned people of the state to carefully check their buildings especially during rainy season.
