The Nigerian Institute of Building has announced plans to hold its 51st Annual General Meeting and Conference in a bid to retrain building professionals and provide them with tools to achieve sustainable building practices.

A statement from the NIOB said the event tagged ‘Eko Akete Builders’ Conference’ would be held in Lagos from Monday, August 23 to Thursday, August 26, 2021, with the theme, ‘Advancing Technologies, Systems and Standards for Sustainable Building Construction’.

The National Publicity Secretary of NIOB, Akinola Bammeke, said the objectives of the AGM are to retrain professionals on modern technologies, systems and standards in building construction practice; promote standardisation and right technology for sustainable building project delivery and help members to understand the concept of sustainable practice in building construction.

Bammeke disclosed that at the AGM, members would be made to understand advanced and emerging technology options for sustainable construction of building elements such as foundations, walls, roofs and other structural elements.

Expected to grace the event are seasoned industry practitioners and experienced academics billed to present papers to engage the audience and stimulate robust discussions.
