In a bid to enhance road infrastructure and safety across the country, the Bauchi State Infrastructure Development and Maintenance Agency (BASIDMA) has initiated a collaborative alliance with the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA).
This development followed a high-level meeting held at FERMA’s headquarters in Abuja, where BASIDMA’s Director-General, Abdulrahman Mai-auduga, led a delegation to engage with FERMA’s leadership. The courtesy visit focused on fostering mutual cooperation in critical areas such as road maintenance, technical training, and infrastructure development.
Speaking to reporters after the session, Mai-auduga highlighted the significance of the discussions. “We explored various avenues of partnership, including capacity building for personnel, knowledge exchange, and collaborative projects aimed at improving the road network,” he said.
He stressed the importance of unified efforts between federal and state agencies, noting that such synergies are key to achieving durable and safer roads. “With this strengthened relationship, both agencies can maximize resources and share technical expertise to deliver impactful results for the public,” Mai-auduga added.
FERMA’s Managing Director, Chukwuemeka Agbasi, welcomed the partnership, describing it as a timely and strategic move that could lead to tangible improvements in road quality and economic development.
“This collaboration opens up a range of benefits from enhanced safety standards on our highways to broader infrastructure upgrades that support local economies,” Agbasi stated.
The meeting concluded with a mutual commitment to begin work on identified joint initiatives, marking a new chapter in inter-agency collaboration for Nigeria’s infrastructure development.
