The Lagos State Gov.-elect. Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has pledged that his administration would accord professionals in the state, particularly Estate Surveyors, their rightful positions.

Sanwo-Olu made the pledge on Friday at the 13th Honours’ Award of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Lagos chapter, in Lagos.

Newsmen report that theme of the programme is: “Promoting Professionalism in the City of Lagos”.

According to Sanwo-Olu, his administration will partner with the estate surveyors to provide quality and affordable houses, which is one of the agenda of the government.

He said that, “the reward for hard work, is more, more work”.

He urged estate surveyors to do more toward housing development, having appreciated their efforts in the real estate sector of the state.

“My government is one that will work with the professionals, particularly the estate surveyors, to bring about positive engagement that will proffer lasting solutions to major economic issues.

“We are presently at the stage where we need to think globally to be able to adopt international best practices to grow the economy and the professionals are the supposed key drivers.

“As a government that listens, there will be opportunities for professionals to reflect professionalism in the course of running the government, which implies that the professionals are bound to correct my government,” Sanwo-Olu said.

Earlier, the Lagos Chapter Chairman of NIESV, Mr Olurogba Orimalade, had assured the governor-elect of the commitments of the estate surveyors to partner with the state.

He urged the government to do more by providing enabling environments for effective operation of the professionals.

Orimalade appealed to the state government to revisit the ‘Land Use Charge’ to make it favourable for the government, professionals and the residents of the state.

He also advised estate surveyors to display professionalism in the course of delivering their services.

Orimolade said that professionalism remained the quality that would distinguish them from others in the society.

“There is the need for the deployment of professionalism in the practice of real estate profession.

“As estate surveyors, we are well trained, equipped and ready to provide essential estate services and also implement government political and economic agenda regarding the real estate sector,” he said.

Newmsen report that the highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of meritorious awards to deserving individuals and corporate organisations.

Prof. Modupe Omirin of the University of Lagos bagged the Individual Meritorious award, Babalola Adeniyi & Co., won the Corporate Best Estate Surveying Firm in Facility Management award, while the Most Notable Real Estate Development award was won by Alaro City Lekki.

Also, Witchtech Company won the Corporate Building Material Industry Development award, Stanbic Capital won the Corporate Real Estate Finance award while the Land Bureau, won the Outstanding Government Agency award.
