The residents of Itele Awori Area, Ado-Odo, Otta Local Government of Ogun State have protested the deplorable roads in the community.
The protest which lasted for about five hours caused human and vehicular traffic.
Speaking to journalists after the peaceful protest, Vice Chairman of Ado-Odo, Ota Community Development Committee (CDC), Alhaji Olatunji Onaolopo told reporters that for more than 10 years the road, the road which cuts across four CDCs namely, Itele, Ayetoro Binukonu and Egbejoda, had been in bad shape, and if not for the community efforts, the area would have been cut off from the rest of the state.
Unfortunately for the residence, anytime it rains, all the link roads in the community become impassable.
A visit to the community on Monday showed that the story was not different as many residents abandoned their vehicles on the road.
Onaolapo said most landlords in the community have abandoned their houses while others have put their buildings for sale because of the deplorable condition of the road.
“I know of two professors who have put their buildings on the market for sale as they cannot cope with the bad state of the roads. Those of them who do not want to sell their houses have packed out of the community to live in rented apartments outside the community.
“Since the rainy season started this year, most of our roads have been divided into various points as there are no well-constructed drainage to contain the flood,” he said.
