Former Managing Director of Anambra State Housing Corporation, Arc. Mike Nwafor has advised Nigerian architects to invest in research and technology to advance their practices.

Nwafor, gave the advice as a keynote speaker at the 2021 Architects Conference organised by the Nigerian Institute of Architects held in Awka, Anambra State.

He said architects in Nigeria are faced with numerous challenges which militate against  the profession.

According to him, some of the challenges include climate change, shortage of qualified personnel, use of local building materials and affordable technology.

He stated  that skills in graphic designing, drone-aided projects, effective communication and expertise in real estate could enable an Architect expand his career path in the technology-driven world.

“Architects shouldn’t wait for recognitions but force themselves to be recognised through their products and services,  business opportunities abound for Architects as in all other professions,” he said.
