The organizer of the annual International Housing Show, Abuja popularly known as Abuja International Housing Show (AIHS) says all arrangements have been concluded to host the 14th edition of the International Housing Show.

In an interview with Africanhousingnews.com, Coordinator of AIHS, Barrister Festus Adebayo explained that this year`s event will focus on the theme: ” Housing Finance and Liveable Cities: Innovations for 2020 and Beyond..”

He said that the 2020 AIHS is better packaged as it will be focusing on innovations that can assist prospective homeowners to own their different houses, tackling new challenges of affordability and the problem of the ineffective mortgage system.

Festus said, “We will seek the effective and efficient way out of the problem of ineffective mortgage system, new challenges of affordability and innovations that can assist prospective homeowners to own their different houses.”

He said further that the issue of proptech will be specially focused on because that is the era we are now.

“One of the feature innovations that will be discussed extensively at the show will be proptech and its capacity to improve housing finance and aggregate the current defragmentation that is plaguing the housing market finance market in Nigeria.

We will be having a session on protech, we can’t be doing things the same way and expect to get a different result. On that note, the 2020 AIHS will be focusing more on the latest innovations around the world in the area of housing, homeownership and mortgage development,” he said.

The AIHS Coordinator said it has  Shelter Afrique – a premier Africa owned housing finance institution as a strong partner in co-organizing the  2020 Abuja International Housing Show, just as he said this year`s event will be characterized of various side events by organizations in  Nigerian and various countries around the world.

“We have received a note from foreign organizations who are interested in having side events at the IHS 2020.. AIHS is an unparalleled platform where the leading brands meet, where the leaders in Africa housing sector interact, exchange ideas, and proffer solutions on the way forward for the development of the housing sector.”

Festus said that political leaders will not be left out in the year`s Show as ‘we are working on a plan to involve the committees on housing in the National Assembly. We cant afford not to involve the policymakers in the 2020 event.

Speaking on prospective exhibitors, Festus said both local and foreign exhibitors have been eagerly booking for spaces, especially for the front booths.

“The pressure for exhibition books, spaces have started in earnest. Majority of the companies are seeking for front positions, especially those who were at the backspace of exhibition booth last year. Many organizations abroad such as Turkey, India, US, China, UAE that missed out in the last year event have started coming in on how they can make an early registration so that they can start preparing for the event,” said Festus.
