She said it not good for the youth to continue living on stipend, saying the best way to empower the youths is to train them to become self-reliant and self employed.

Fielding questions from Journalists at a press conference heralding the 2019 Ede Day celebration in Ede, Osun state Monday, Giwa advised the youths to engage themselves in skill acquisition and small scale business rather than looking for white kola job.

The Commissioner who is the Chairperson, Ede Mapo Arogun 2019,  disclosed that Dr. Wale Babalakin will be the Chief launcher at the Saturday grand finale of Ede day.

“They are not on permanent employment and it doesn’t help them to be an NPower employee for life. So, it is better for them to be empowered so that when they leave NPower, they will have something to fall back on.

“It is good for the federal government to disengage and bring other people in. But they need to be trained and empowered. They can not be NPower employee for life. It is not even good for them and it is bot good for the system.

She commended Governor Gboyega Oyetola for the distribution of over N2billion to 25,907 indigent and vulnerable citizens under the Youth Employment and Social Support Operation (YESSO).

She said with the Public Workfare and Special Grant Transfer programme launched, Osun will have less criminals. If you are a manufacturer under big or small scale, you are an employer and it’s better than looking for white kola job.

Other dignitaries expected are the speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Senators Adeleke Oriolowo, Ajibola Bashiru, Frederick Fadahunsi, as well as Hon Bamidele Salaam and Taiwo Oluga.
