Abuja Orphanage Homes Allegedly Sell Children For N10k, 88 Kids Missing

Some Orphanage homes in Abuja have been caught in the act of selling babies for a price of N10k MAWA Foundation has learned.
Some of the Orphanage homes caught in the act are located at the Gwarimpa area of Abuja MAWA learned.
An official of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) who does not want her name mentioned narrated to MAWA how the agency got an intelligent report that led to the arrest of  Orphanage operators.
The official told MAWA that when the suspects were arrested and brought to the agency for interrogation, they confessed having been into the business of selling babies for N10k.
They, however, said the Coronavirus pandemic forced them into the business pointing out that they needed to survive the pandemic economic crisis.
One of the arrested suspects during interrogation confessed to NAPTIP that the business is properly networked and is been carried out by many syndicates.

A 10-year-old girl arrested together with the suspects during the raid, told NAPTIP officials that since she was sold to her madam, she has been sucking her anus for the past five months. A development she confessed was her duty in her madam’s house.
The woman’s husband has since denied knowledge of the torture and dehumanization the girl went through in his house.
A NAPTIP official told MAWA that over 88 children are missing from the orphanage homes, pointing out that based on the records made available to them, the Orphanage homes cannot account for them.
The official disclosed that the suspects will soon be charged to court while appealing to the public to collaborate with the agency in the fight against child trafficking and abuse.
