A building collapse has killed a young lady, Joy Thomas, and injured a mother and her son in Lade Village in the Patigi local government area of Kwara State.

It was gathered that the tragic incident happened around 10 pm on Sunday when the deceased and other victims slept over on their veranda while taking fresh air.

According to multiple sources, a member of the community, who is a rice farmer, Adamu Idris, and the deceased’s neighbour, Joshua Seth, said that the incident had thrown the community and families into a mourning mood.

“The deceased, Joy, and other victims were sleeping and relaxing outside the veranda due to heat in the community”, he said.

Idris added that the collapsed building and rubble fell on them and led to the death of the lady.

“The remains of the young lady was buried in the early hours of Monday”.

He also said that rubbles also injured a mother and her son, taking a nap on the collapsed building, adding that the unfortunate incident happened at 10 o’clock on Sunday.

“The other victims who were severely injured, were helped and rushed to a nearby hospital in the community for medical treatments”.

According to sources in the community, the deceased was in church on Sunday to celebrate Easter with church members and friends.
