According to the Mercer 2021 Cost of Living City Ranking, Lagos, Nigeria, is one of the top 10 most expensive cities in Africa for expats, and among the top 20 globally. Although it has Africa’s fastest-growing economy, the city’s living conditions are far from ideal.

The rating, which aids businesses in navigating expatriate remuneration, was based on New York City, with currency changes calculated against the US dollar.

According to the survey, Chad’s economy is the most expensive in Africa, despite the fact that it is still recuperating from the oil price fall and the economic shock caused by the coronavirus. The most expensive city in the world this year was Ashgabat, Turkmenistan.
